How does our ability to manipulate an image pixel by pixel affect our perceptions of photography? Read the New Yorker article Pixel Perfect. Do photoshop wizards such as Pascal do something different to images than Oscar Rejlander did in the 19th Cen? Or is it the same thing, yet more advanced? How does this affect the way we as a culture think about photography if at all? How does it relate to art photography and the practices of contemporary artists such as Julie Blackmon and Yang Yi? (See the side bar on the blog for examples of their work.)
